Using WYSIWYG Editor

Previous | Next

The WYSIWYG Editor makes content creation and editing simple and fast. With almost MicrosoftTM Word-like capabilities, eTouch SamePage allows complex web-content to be created without knowing wiki syntax.

While most of the icons are fairly self-explanatory, here are a few quick tips on the WYSIWYG Editor toolbar.

  • The Save button saves the current Page, creates a new version of the Page and goes back into the View Tab.
  • The Cancel button discards the edits and goes back to the View Tab of the current version of the Page.
  • The Preview button allows the saved content to be previewed in a new window. If you want to save intermittently while editing, it is better to use the Preview option.
  • The Permissions button can be seen only by the Page Owner. It opens a new Window to set the Page Permissions.

Formatting
The set of formatting buttons/tools in the first and second row are very similar to any standard Word Processor and provide means for formatting text, clipboard operations, find-replace operations, text direction and alignment, bullets etc.

The next set of
specialized buttons/tools are  provided for inserting specific objects like a horizontal line, links, images, tables or specialized operations.
  • The icon inserts a horizontal line.
  • The   icon inserts a link either to another page within the same project or another project or an external URL.
  • The icon inserts an image from the images already attached to the Page. It also provides means to browse and attach a new image from the desktop before inserting.
  • The   icon inserts a table of the required rows and columns while the icon gives the table borders.
  • The   icon inserts an emoticon from a list of emoticons.
  • The   icon inserts an anchor that can be linked from elsewhere.
  • The   icon inserts a panel within which text can be written. Background color of the panel can be modified as required.
  • The   icon  inserts a panel within which Wiki text can be written. This provides the flexibility for users to type or paste Wiki text.
  • The   icon inserts a plugin from a list of custom plugins like Calendar, RSS feed etc.
  • The   icon inserts a special character from a list of special characters.
  • The   icon is a toggle button to switches into HTML mode. This provides the flexibility for users to type or paste HTML.
  • The icon  opens  the  WYSIWYG editor  in full screen mode.

The buttons/tools in the last row are for all kinds of operations within a table like inserting, moving, deleting or
modifying properties for rows, columns  or individual cells,  sorting values, merging cells etc.
