Other Concepts and Terminology

Previous | Next

Here are some other concepts and terminology that you may come across in eTouch SamePage.

Project Dashboard

The Project Dashboard, as the name suggests, is a dashboard view of the project. Among other things, it shows a list of Pages and most recently updated News. For Project Administrators, the Dashboard also serves as the Administration Console.

The Project Dashboard can be accessed by clicking on the Project name in the breadcrumb at the top of the page or by clicking the icon on the Floating Toolbar.

Toolbar

This             is the context-sensitive toolbar with different icons that you see             either floating at the top of the Page or pinned to the left side of             the Page as a fixed toolbar. You can pin/dock the floating toolbar by             clicking on the  icon or unpin/undock the fixed toolbar by clicking on the  icon within the toolbar. The floating toolbar can be expanded anytime by clicking on the  icon within the toolbar. The floating toolbar can be dragged and dropped anywhere on the screen as             convenient. Double-clicking on the toolbar brings it back to its             original position.

The             toolbar is context sensitive - so it would provide different set of             functionalities based on which screen you are within eTouch SamePage             and what privileges you have.

The             toolbar provides the Search Box for searching any search term. It             always does a full-text search within the content of the Page as well             as attachments. The scope of search is either within the Project or             across Projects based on your context.

Children

eTouch SamePage allows creation of Pages within a Project in a hierarchial fashion. "Children" refers to all Pages created directly under a particular Page. In the example below, Child Page 1 and Child Page 2 are children of Parent Page.

Children of the current Page can be accessed by clicking on the icon of the Floating Toolbar.

Orphan Pages

Pages within a Project are typically hyperlinked to each other. Pages in a Project that are not linked by any other Page are referred as Orphan Pages.
Orphan Pages of a Project can be accessed either through the Dashboard or by clicking on the icon of the Floating Toolbar.

Back Links

Pages within a Project are typically hyperlinked to each other. Back Links refers to the list of Pages that are linked to the Current Page. Back Links for a Page can be accessed by clicking on the icon of the Floating Toolbar.

Site Index

Site Index is an indexed view of the Project. It provides a complete list of all Pages and News Items in the Project in an alphabetical order.

Site Index for a Project can be accessed by clicking on the icon of the Floating Toolbar.

Domain

Domain is a logical unit within an eTouch SamePage server that can host a number of Projects. For example, sandboxwiki.etouch.net is a domain which hosts a number of Projects. An organization would typically have one or more domains, each hosting hundreds of individual Projects.

Domains have a separate Administration interface.

Topics

Topics are a way of categorizing Pages or News within a Project. A Page can belong to one or more Topics. You can create a new Topic by simply typing it within the Topic field while creating the Page. Topics for a Page can be added or modified at any time.

A Topics-wise list of all the Pages in a Project can be accessed by clicking on the icon of the Floating Toolbar.

Breadcrumb

Every Page in eTouch SamePage has a trail of links pointing to Pages hierarchically above the current Page. This navigational element is referred to as the BreadCrumb.
